Creative Things People Do To Avoid Fixing Things Properly

Us humans are usually lazy. If we see that something might take a little bit too much effort to fix or do we will do two things, one way is to avoid it or two we find a creative hack and DIY something to solve our problems. These DIYs can involve any item ever but hey if they work they work.

Saving time and cutting down on effort seems like a natural human trait and something people strive to do is do more but putting in the least amount of effort.

How could we have not thought of this before? Why turn to someone who asks for money to fix the problem or do the job if you can just do it on your own? These people are creative and way ahead of everyone else, we better catch up. These people took things a little too far and came up with some great DIYs for the simplest of problems.

No More Dishes

Let’s be honest; nobody likes doing the dishes. So, what if we told you that you never had to do the dishes ever again? This person not only found a way to avoid spending unnecessary time at the sink, but also a way to save water and dish soap.

Doing the dishes

Sure, you might have to buy more aluminum foil, but that’s a small price to pay for the hours of free time that you will make up in the process.

Living in 3019

It’s pretty clear to see that this young boy is living in 3019, and we have a feeling that he already has the qualifications to rule the world and become the next leader we all need. I mean, just look at this stroke of magic! While public transport is a necessity for some people in this world, it can also be pretty boring.

Living in 3019

You either have to stare out of the window, avoiding all eye contact with the rest of the passengers, or you have to crick your neck in an attempt to catch up on Ru Paul’s Drag Race on your phone. Well, gone are those days. This guy has changed the game and has created his very own public transport movie theater. All it will cost you is your bus fare and a baseball cap.

Holding things up

Technology is great, right? Nowadays, we live in a world where technology reigns supreme, and we can go about our day with our cell phones in our hands, our iPads in our bags, and a laptop on the table in front of us. It’s pretty awesome, but also pretty expensive.

Holding things up

If these items break, you normally have to shell out a huge amount of money to fix or replace them. Sometimes this just isn’t an option, and this man obviously didn’t want to spend his hard-earned cash on replacing the screen on his laptop after it gave up and refused to stand up on its own. Instead, he decided to make use of an old photo frame.

Everyone loves going to the beach, but do you ever feel as though you’re missing out on the fun and games on the sand? It’s impossible to head to the beach without taking your car keys, your house key, some money, or your cell phone, but what are you supposed to do with it when you head into the ocean and leave your towel behind?

It’s so easy for thieves to take your possessions when you leave these items on the sand because there’s no real way to hide them. Until now, of course. If you want to put off any potential thieves, just buy yourself a diaper. Simply wrap your important items in this diaper and watch thieves squirm at the thought of what could be inside…

The hard-to-reach areas

More and more men and women are opting to ditch their razors and embrace the natural hair instead, and that’s totally cool. However, if you still like to be hairless in certain areas of your body, you might struggle to get to those hard-to-reach areas. If you’re super tall, pregnant, or just a bit too inflexible to reach the bottom of your ankles, you don’t need to worry any longer.

The hard-to-reach areas

This innovator found a new way to add some length to their shaving antics, and it’s actually a rather simple concept. If you have back scratcher hanging about the house, then it’s time to make use of it. Attach it to your razor, and let the magic happen. You and your ankles won’t regret it.

Security 101

Although many houses now come complete with security cameras, motion sensors, and other high-tech gadgets that supposedly keep out thieves, sometimes simplicity is key. While this may look like a botched job, we have to say that we’ve never been able to bend a knife before. Have you?

Security 101

They are strong and sturdy, and although this knife was used as a backup when the actual catch lock broke, it looks like it will definitely do the job. We might steal this one, you know.

Maintaining your privacy

When you’re doing your business in the restroom, there’s a high chance that you don’t want to make eye contact with someone fixing their makeup in the mirror. We’re just not about that life. We like our privacy, thanks. If you’re the same, you might want to take a leaf out of this book.

Maintaining your privacy

Although it may seem as though there’s nothing to cover up the gap in the door, your bathroom stall has actually been blessed with the perfect material. Toilet paper, y’all. It can fix anything.

It doesn’t exist

If you live by the rule that if you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist, then this little fixer-upper may be right up your street. After all, we’ve already established that nobody likes doing the dishes, but sometimes it seems impossible to avoid the dirty plates and cutlery in your sink.

It doesn’t exist

Until now, of course. All you need to do is print out a photograph of an empty sink and place it on top of your full sink. The optical illusion will work for a little while.

All about flexibility

We can’t wait for the day that scientists create a self-charging cell phone, because it seems as though we spend a huge amount of our time sitting by a socket and waiting for our phones to charge. However, there’s nothing worse than plugging your charger into a socket that’s just way too high.

All about flexibility

Your phone just kinda dangles down like a piece of wet spaghetti, and it doesn’t do your charger any good. Well, here’s the tea. Charging your phone is all about the flexibility and the balance.

Always prepared

Onions are pretty delicious, but they don’t make it easy for wannabe chefs to eat them. Although we don’t blame them, because we wouldn’t want to be eaten either, we also don’t like to cry on a regular basis.

Always prepared

Most of the time, we have just put up with the fact that we’ll never have dry eyes ever again, but it seems as though it doesn’t have to be that way. This woman has found the perfect way to keep her eyes dry as a bone, and this plan involves some ski goggles.

Doing it yourself

If you’ve recently bought your own home, you were probably a little naive about the whole thing. Once you’ve put down the deposit and exchanged the keys, you just need the big items to fill your house, right? You know, like a bed, a couch, some storage, and an oven?

Doing it yourself

Erm, not quite. When you move out of your parents’ home, you realize how many things you took for granted. With no money to buy a toaster oven, this person had to get creative with a colander.

Do the dew

If you love Mountain Dew as much as the next guy (who really loves Mountain Dew), you’re probably of the opinion that it can basically solve any problem this world faces. It’s delicious, it makes everyone happy, and even the bottle has healing powers.

Do the dew

Yes, just look at this shower! After this homeowner realized that their shower head had broken, they realized that they wouldn’t be able to afford a brand new one. Who needs a new one with a Mountain Dew bottle in tow?

Always late

We’d love to know how this clock broke in such a specific place, but we’re gonna go ahead and assume that it was an accident. Perhaps the student who is always running late slammed the door a little too hard, and it slipped to the ground?

Always late

Either way, it seems pretty pointless to replace a whole clock when only a small part is missing. So, the person behind this genius plan decided to just add a piece of paper into the mix instead. It certainly does the job.

Doing the job

Cars are the best but also the worst things in the world. On the one hand, they can take you from A to B and allow you a huge amount of freedom. On the other hand, they break a lot, and they are pretty expensive.

Doing the job

Sometimes the smallest details make a huge amount of difference, and you might know that from your own experience if you’ve ever dealt with a missing windscreen wiper. Not being able to see out of your back window can get pretty dangerous, but not if there’s a broom head involved.

The end of its tether

If you like to get the most out of your money, you probably try to keep onto your belongings until the last thread reaches the end of its tether. Obviously, this couch just wasn’t broken enough to warrant buying a new one, so this owner decided to get creative and fix it themselves.

The end of its tether

Sure, the cushion may have been broken, and the springs may have been exposed, but it just so happened that one of their spare chairs fit perfectly into that little hole.

Basically the same

Of course, this isn’t a great idea if you drive in the dark, but if this car is only used during the day, it’s basically the same. If you’ve ever been involved in an accident – whether it was your fault or not – you may have taken a chunk out of your car.

Basically the same

Sometimes this is a fairly insignificant chunk, but it’s also sometimes something pretty important. Instead of shelling out the money to replace this front headlight, this car owner decided to print out a headlight instead.

A life hack

If you’re ever stuck in a bind with broken household features, it might be the perfect opportunity for you to put your DIY hat on. Although you might not fix the problem completely, you can find certain items around your house that could solve the problem on a temporary basis.

A life hack

After all, you didn’t think that straws were just made for you to put in your drinks, did you? Absolutely not! These things also serve as the perfect faucet when yours breaks. It totally works.

The ultimate air-con

Sometimes the weather can get pretty unbearable, and opening the windows just doesn’t do the job. If you’re not lucky enough to have air-con or a proper ceiling fan, then it can often seem as though you just have to give in to the heat and bathe in your own sweat.

The ultimate air-con

However, it doesn’t have to be that way. You can create your own ceiling fan using a normal stand-alone fan and some strong duct tape. Just make sure it’s pretty strong duct tape.

Raising the roof

Convertible cars are super cool, right? Although there’s just one feature missing from the car, there’s something so special about a car that can remove its roof and allow the wind to rush through the hair of the driver.

Raising the roof

However, this isn’t too great when the heavens open, and the rain begins to fall. You don’t want to get any rain on the leather interior, so what do you do? This car owner couldn’t pull up the roof, so had to think on their feet. The result was this strange contraption.

Let there be light

Nobody wants to go in a dark elevator, which is why this genius decided to plug their lamp into the communal elevator. However, we can’t help but wonder why the light stopped working in the first place.

Let there be light

If it was a simple blown bulb, then this is a great idea. If it’s something else, we can’t imagine that anyone would want to step into this elevator anyway. Nevertheless, this lamp does add a certain atmosphere to the environment. Looks just like home.

On your feet

Okay, we don’t actually know what’s going on here. Is this person wearing shoes covered in plastic wrap? Are the shoes made entirely out of plastic wrap? We know that the world is full of people who feel more comfortable when they aren’t wearing shoes, but it seems as though this person has taken this one step further.

On your feet

Many establishments don’t allow bare-footed customers to enter their doors, so it seems as though this person has cracked the code. They aren’t barefoot, but they also aren’t wearing shoes.

Almost there

Let’s be honest; as long as soap cleans our hands and makes them smell nice at the end, we don’t care whether people buy $1 soap or $100 soap. It’s basically the same, right? It seems as though we’re not the only ones who think this way, as those in charge of this bathroom decided that they didn’t want to shell out a huge amount on soap.

Almost there

Instead, they simply taped the cheaper version to the outside of the soap dispenser. It does the job, and it saves money at the same time.

Chained up

It’s not every day you see a shower curtain attached to its pole using handcuffs, but when you think about it, it’s the perfect solution. After all, losing one shower curtain ring shouldn’t really warrant a brand new purchase, but then you can’t really find one singular ring in the store.

Chained up

This person was obviously in a bit of a predicament but soon realized that they had the perfect attachment to their showering experience. It’s pretty genius, actually, because they even have a spare if they lose another.

Judging a book

We hate to judge a book by its cover, but we can’t help but think that this is a hard-hitting book about a sink that falls in love with the floor, and will do everything it can to be with it. Is that right? Well, maybe not.

Judging a book

While we’re always impressed by the DIY solutions that people come up with, this one is a little tetchy. The books do keep the sink upright, but how does anyone use it? There’s a lot of junk in the way.

Totally safe

If we made our way onto an airplane and saw a piece of cardboard covering the window, we would be running out of that door quicker than you could say “complimentary peanuts.” Although air travel has become part of everyday life, there is still a small amount of risk associated with flying above the clouds.

Totally safe

Broken windows aren’t what anyone signs up for, and this blatant and botched DIY job wouldn’t fill anyone with confidence. Although the person reading the newspaper doesn’t seem to care.

Doing what you can

Although we live in a modern and technologically-advanced world, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have power cuts every so often. Most people can survive by the torches on their phones, but what does that mean about your cup of tea?

Doing what you can

This person was obviously gasping for a hot cup of tea, so was willing to put on their creative hat to boil their water and drink the warm goodness. It probably took a while for the water to boil, but we admire their creativity.

The third wheel

Nobody likes being the third wheel, but what about the 4th, 5th, and 6th wheels? Well, you might want to ask this car, because these DIY “experts” decided to add a few more wheels onto their wagon.

The third wheel

Of course, it’s never fun when you pop a tire and don’t have a spare one to hand. However, you probably shouldn’t grab your wheely table and put that under the missing wheel instead. We’re no mechanic, but we just don’t think that seems very safe.

Making a home

If you’ve ever had an accident in your car and been left with a chunk out of the bodywork, you’ll know that it’s not the most attractive thing in existence. It can ruin the vibe of your car, and it can make the whole thing look messy and broken.

Making a home

If you don’t have the money to fix this issue, then you don’t have to keep it plain and simple. Take a leaf out of this person’s book and transform it into a home for your favorite toy figurines.

Lazing in bed

There’s nothing better than lazing in bed, right? It’s so easy to find a comfortable position for your head and your body, but this can often make things difficult if you want to watch a movie on your phone.

Lazing in bed

Instead of having to deal with the bright lights in your eyes or a numb arm, you can utilize the duct tape in your closet to create this DIY masterpiece. Yes, simply attach your phone or tablet to the duct tape, and stick it to the ceiling. Works every time.

Keeping cool

Laptops are great and all, but they can sometimes overheat and cause a whole load of problems. One of the main reasons for this is because the fans are covered a table or a bed, and can’t quite do the job they’re supposed to.

Keeping cool

If this happens to you, then you don’t need to worry! All you need to keep your laptop cool is a couple of forks. Whoever discovered this life hack definitely needs a pat on the back, because this is truly something special.

Sticking together

Like every other item of technology we have in our lives, laptops need to be charged. However, there’s nothing worse than realizing that your charger cable has fallen out of your laptop without doing the job it’s supposed to do.

Sticking together

To stop this from happening, one genius decided to make use of some velcro. They attached one piece to the charger, another piece to the laptop, and then let the magic happen. It’s so simple, yet so effective, and we kinda love it.

On a lead

Baths are pretty relaxing, right? You can either choose to close your eyes and then let the water soak over you, or you can take the opportunity to stick your nose into a good book. Yet, if you’ve ever dropped your book into the bath, you’ll know that it can kinda ruin the vibe.

On a lead

This amazing mind figured out how they could stop that from happening, and all they had to do was borrow their dog’s lead for a little while. How have we never thought of this before?

Seeing is believing

It’s no secret that cars are pretty expensive. They are not only pricey to buy outright, but they become even more expensive when they break down, or something happens to them. While a lost wing mirror isn’t the end of the world, it is kinda important.

Seeing is believing

After all, it’s always nice to see behind you when you’re driving. This person was obviously reaching the end of the month and couldn’t afford a brand new mirror, so opted for their mirrored sunglasses instead. Well, it’s better than nothing.

Sticking it together

If your family didn’t have a huge amount of money when you were younger, you were probably a little jealous of your neighbors. While they had a trampoline in their yard and more than enough toys to entertain a whole town, you were creating the next greatest hit on your spoons.

Sticking it together

However, you don’t need a huge amount of money to create your own fun. Instead of ogling over your neighbor’s roller skates, you could have just made your own. All you need is some duct tape and some wheels, after all.

Here’s Johnny!

Sometimes accidents happen, but these accidents can get pretty expensive. Yes, if you ever have to deal with a hole in your wall or a chunk taken out of your door, you’ll probably be quoted a few hundred dollars to fix it. But do you really need to fix it?

Here’s Johnny!

Of course, if the building is structurally unstable because of the issue, then it’s best you get it fixed. However, if the walls aren’t going to collapse, you could just get creative and recreate your favorite horror movie in instead.
